Meru singer Dayo Kim has stirred online conversation after revealing she had reached out to rising TikTok star Vicky Meru Girl for a potential music video collaboration—an offer that was ultimately declined.
In a now-deleted post, Dayo claimed that another artist she intended to feature alongside Vicky told her that Vicky questioned her credibility, allegedly asking:
"Who is this Dayo? What are her songs? Will she help or is she just trying to use us?"
Vicky has not officially responded to the allegations.
In a separate, still-public Facebook post (pictured above), Dayo praised both Vicky Meru Girl and Stewarn Cherulo, calling them hardworking talents from Igembe. She expressed her desire to support and collaborate with them for an upcoming Nairobi show, even offering to feature them in a song.
“Tuinuaane na tujengane, hii post ifwakike… this should be a true definition of supporting each other,” Dayo wrote, urging unity in the Meru music scene.
While her efforts appear genuine, the lack of response from Vicky and the deleted post suggest there may be tensions behind the scenes.
Vicky Meru Girl boasts 17K followers on Facebook and a massive 62.3K on TikTok, while Dayo Kim trails with 14K on Facebook and just 3.2K on TikTok.
The situation has sparked debate about authenticity, support, and ego in Meru's fast-growing content and music scene.
